501st Dunkelweizen

Our 501st Dunkelweizen is now fermenting along nicely! Brew night went really well and fun was had by all there. There was great beer and good food. We had a guest, Kent, who seemed to really enjoy the time. He asked lots of questions and really took in the whole process. We enjoyed having Kent there and look forward to having other guest "brewers" in the future. Why did we pick a dunkelweizen? Well Brent wanted to brew a dunkel and we decided on this recipe to stick to our wheat beer line. This beer has a very nice flavor profile and is very easy to drink
. It has a very creamy mouth-feel with hints of chocolate and coffee. The aroma is malty with a slight hops presence. This beer is pretty good! The 501st part of the name comes from Brent's father-in-law who served in the Army in Germany, Dan. Dan has told us some good stories from that time and the beers they drank over there. He especially recalls what he calls "Christmas beer". So we made this beer with him and his buddies in mind. Thank you Dan and all other Veterans and those currently serving for your service! PROST!!
